More than 100 Nepali students have been selected for study and research under the 2018 government scholarship programme in renowned universities of China. Nepali students accordingly will be pursuing doctorate, master’s and diploma level education in those universities.
At a function held in the capital on Monday, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokharel and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong gave away official letters of scholarship awards to the successful Nepali students.
As of last year, 6,400 Nepali students have already received scholarship from the Chinese government. This year the scholarship has been granted in medical science, engineering, aviation, water resources engineering, management, administration, public health, Chinese language and other categories.
According to information shared at the programme, the number of universities in China has reached 2,879, with 38 of them recognized as the outstanding ones. And Nepali students are getting opportunity to study in these 38 universities. The government of the people’s republic of China began distributing scholarship to Nepali students from 1958.
